Addressing violent crime is a top priority for Macon-Bibb County. Through Macon Violence Prevention (MVP), the community has come together around collaborative, evidence-based strategies to improve public safety and strengthen neighborhoods—making Macon-Bibb a place where families can thrive, businesses can grow, and visitors feel welcome.
Since MVP’s launch through 2025, Macon-Bibb County has made measurable progress in reducing violent crime, particularly homicides. This progress reflects the power of collaboration among local government, law enforcement, community organizations and residents, as well as sustained investments in prevention and intervention.
MVP works in partnership with the Mayor, Commission members, law enforcement and community stakeholders to implement programs that reduce violence and address its root causes, including poverty and lack of opportunity. Community-led programs, consistent communication with law enforcement, and data-driven evaluation are central to this approach, ensuring strategies are effective and responsive over time.
