Here’s how the new Macon Mall courtrooms will help Macon’s backlogged justice system

New courtrooms for Macon-Bibb County that are aimed at accelerating backed-up criminal trials in Macon-Bibb are scheduled to open within the next 60 days, the city said. The courtrooms, which will be located in the former Sears space at the soon-to-be revamped Macon Mall in west Macon, will give judges more space to have trials for cases that stacked up when trials were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
